Curs?????

What is a cur dog? I have been reading the posts in this section and was wondering what is in a curs make-up. Everone says they are they are great dogs, and I am not saying that that isn't true but I have never seen one hunt. How do they hunt diffrant then hounds. And if they are as good as people say they are then why run hounds at all? not trying to start a fight I just don't know anything about these dogs?
