Trust me, I instantly had mine picked out. If I wasn't feeding a litter of nine I would be standing in line. I love how those dogs are bred. A lot of dog power packed away in those little tiny bodies.

David, I've gotten a little smarter over the year's . I got a guy to switch over to hunting this line of dogs and bred one of my male's to a female he got from me then split the litter with him.

Re: The Clavey River Cur Gang
Yep I would count on it. Oscar throws heavy ticking in 80 % of his pups. I have a litter hitting the ground which was unexpected. That is what can happen when you go on vacation for ten days!
I lost Zoey yesterday on a bear so my breeding program took a big hit.

Re: The Clavey River Cur Gang
Thanks a bunch Jeff. I wasn't going to keep any as it was was a mother son cross. I have had a few people tell me it that is a bad cross, any words of wisdom. You have been breeding a lot longer than I have.
Oscar is the father of both. Zoey the mother of Rosie.

Re: The Clavey River Cur Gang
Doug, I'm no expert and have no experience with Mother to son, I do have it with brother to sister and father to daughter. Knowing this line of dogs I'd have no problem doing it , looking back I wish I would have done it to Oscar's Mother. Any cross has the potential to be a bad cross and most of the time these " expert " breeders that tell you it won't work have never tried it or if they did didn't know the dogs behind the ones being breed or in most cases that's what they tell you because that is what someone told them. If I'm right with what I think the lineage of the two are and was you I would keep the whole litter and cull as seen fit. All based on what you do for a living with your dogs and know just how valuable kennel space is and what it takes for those two to call your place home I'd assume they are worth breeding. Or get rid of them and I'll just send you one or two of these I only want one or two anyway's

I heard that John Clark had called it "Black Diamond" cur. I don't know what that is, but maybe just someone's name for a Stephens. ?
I showed up at a leopard world hunt in Indiana with all my dogs including a litter of jug bred pups and two of them were black. Jug was a huge controversy at the time. No one had ever seen the.black before and it created a stir. I was receiving unsolicited advise about what I should do with those black pups. Haha. There was a steady stream of visitors to my puppy pen for awhile. People seemed disgusted like I needed a scarlet letter tattooed on my forehead.
But the black pups started showing up in other litters as well. Some of the black ones distinguished themselves to the point where some would try to scoop up a black one if they could. I have known of some good ones.
Ryan Munn in Nebraska had one of those good black ones. She just died here a couple weeks ago and I know he took it hard.
I sure wish I was in a position to take one of yours. I am excited for you and all that potential there. I hope you keep us posted on their progress.
