i've just recently gotten 3 curs and i can't get over how much smarter, obedient and driven they are compared to hounds. you speek, they listen; you show, they do; time to go home, and they aint treed or have something caught they go to the truck. it absolutely amazes me. oh and the whole no leash needed thing is great, why i pulled, tug, drug, swarpped, beat, yell, looked for hounds all night for years i have no clue. lol. just wanted to share this. its been a pleasure for a couple weeks. getting ready to do some hog hunting end of this week can't wait to see how that goes too. told my wife i wish i would have tried curs twelve years ago before i got a hound. jmo. just thought i would share my new found excitment.
GOD BLESS and Merry CHRISTmas
wish i would have tried a cur before a hound

Re: wish i would have tried a cur before a hound
i have a kemmer female heavy nugget bred and two original mountain curs streak on top and nugget on bottom. the female has had hogs killed to her before i got her but i'm going to be hunting hog, coon and squirrels. i'm new to curs but so far i'm really enjoying it right now my two omc are only ten months old but tree squirrels well and like coons to but i have no doubt they will run a hog. they are guarenteed to run hogs or my money back on them. which suprised me cause neither one have seen a hog. on the other hand they told me exactly what they would do from manners to treeing and they do exactly as they said they would.

Glad to hear you like the Mountain Curs. I have been hunting them for 23 years now and will never want any thing else and I am a fourth generation houndsman. Mine are used on squirells, coon, hogs and bear. Same dogs for everything. Smart, gritty, easy to handle and train. Good luck to you Sir.

Not knocking curs at all but I have no problem with my plotts listening and no leads needed to get around in the woods very little training for it to . To me the plotts I am running are very similar to curs anyhow .
