Hey You think we have wolves?
Hey You think we have wolves?
I talked with odfw today about a news paper article that we had a few monthes ago where people were saying that they had seen wolves around the wickiup resivor and the surrounding areas. He kind of beat around the bush with it and told me to contact so and so. well before i said goodbye i asked well can you atleast confirm or disprove these sightings and he finially gave in and said that yes they had found 7-8 wolves in the area and were not sure if there were more or not. So there we have it guys they are finially admitting they are here so be careful turning your dogs out in the future in central oregon. I was curious because there were tracks all around where i was hunting and i thought they were huge lion tracks because it never even entered my mind that it could be wolves until a friend said something, so i never went back and now i'm never going to. so just be careful or it could end up a real bad day!

Well the way i see it. If they people in charge of ODFW stay in charge, this state is done for. Time to give em the boots and get some better people in there!
Re: Hey You think we have wolves?
ya the people running this country and state are a bunch of sissy dicks and to be honest the majority of the people are a bunch of pussy's too if you ask me. I personally think its a bunch of crap when you ask odfw where they stand with lions, wolves ect. and they tell you that they cant comment because the liberals wont let them tell you exactly what they think. For these reasons right here is why there are so many "outlaws". The way i see it is how bad would it be exactly if there were not any "outlaws"? If they split this state right down the middle and made it two seperate states it would be great! but back to reality, i'm trying to figure out what i can do personally so i don't sit back and complain any longer and let it get worse. F this state!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Hey You think we have wolves?
If there are wolves around Wickiup, you are already doomed. In a few years, they will be all over Diamond Lake and Crater Lake and over to Hills Ck. and up to Detroit. I hunted the Rogue Valley for over 20 years then moved to Idaho knowing it was way more hound friendly than Or. BIG MISTAKE. I thought I could find spots that the wolves stayed clear of...WRONG.. there is nowhere they stay clear of and I've seen enough dead dogs and chewed up tracking collars to make me sick! If you think you can deal with them, you can't. Try killing out all the coyotes in your area! You can't and wolves are way smarter than coyotes and their territory expands 10 times faster. You can bet your ass those are planted wolves that were released illegally(in my opinion) by the ODFW in an ongoing effort to ruin hunting and keep people out of the woods, just like road closures and Measure 18. I feel for you because there is nothing to be done that will make your efforts worth while, just ask Idahoan's, Montanan's, Wyomian's, Utahian's, Canadian's or whomever you want who live around wolves and hate them. The people behind this movement have more $ than ethics. It is not only anti's, but timber company's and other private entities with the means to fill their person agenda's.

I am embarassed to even be associated with the state of Oregon. I love the country but what our state and enviros on the west side have done to the Big Game Hunting in our state is Bull$hiT. Since we outlawed hound hunting in Oregon in 1994 our predator populations are extremely high and deer and elk herds are already low, and now we have wolves. It is going to get really ugly. Everyone that tries to help out in anyway will be penalized to the full extent with our wonderful State Police when they should be rewarded. The people that know what is going to happen are the only ones that can stop it. Good Luck fellow Oregonians.

Re: Hey You think we have wolves?
well guys i spoke to a gentlemen by the name of john stevenson (I believe) on the phone today, he is the person in charge of all the wolves around here and works for the u.s. department of fish and wildlife. Well the conversation went kinda like this. I had asked what he knows about the wolves around wickiup and surrounding areas and he said that he had seen a few tracks that he thought might be wolves but no wolves themselves, I then asked him if he was familliar with the name steven george who is the head of odfw in bend and he said oh ya i know him well. I proceeded to catch this man in his first lie when i told him that steven had told me that they have visually seen 7-8 wolves out there and he kind of started doin the whole foot in his mouth deal. Anyhow i caught this man in several lies and expressed how i felt on the matter and told him that these wolves are flat out killing machines and that is what they do and that deer and elk populations are already bad enough with the lion and bears taking a toll. He said to me that wolves dont kill any more than they need to eat and there was another lie because my friend is one of the people over in keeting that caught those wolves on camera and saw first hand what they can do and they killed 30 plus sheep and did not eat a single one, they just got in a killing frenzy period. He told me he was there and that was a different situation but im not sure how. I asked can you garuntee me that they wont get in a herd of elk and kill all the calves like they did those sheep and he wouldnt answer. there was alot more to it and i managed to record a bit of it on my phone. they are not going to do anything about it and said that there management program for them is that when there is 4 established breeding pairs for 3 years or more then they will take them off the endangered species list and we will be able to thin them out. THAT IS WAY WAY WAY TOOOOOOO LONG!!!!. The keeting incident didnt happen that long ago and already we have 7 or8 wolves in the cascades. someone help me here please i want to do something

The grim reaper's shadow is surely coveting your beloved home range. It's already too late. Welcome to my nightmare. The only right thing you can do jeopardizes everything else in your life. Sorry man.
Re: Hey You think we have wolves?
the way i see it is that if you dont take risk then you will never have reward and i will be damned if this beautiful state goes to hell any more than it already has with wolves killing everything. I will lose everything i have trying to keep them out of here and ruining everything for everyone if that is what it takes. so if you are telling me that there is no way that anybody with power will ever step in and fix this, then that don't leave much of a choice then does it! I dont get this state one bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Hey You think we have wolves?
I don't think the wolves are limited to Central or Cascades either. One night last summer I was out cruising around W. of Timber and I swear I seen 2 BIG dogs running down the road ahead of me about 40yds. Way too big to be coyotes, but light colored, not dark; so I don't really know. But I do know it was a long time before it was accepted that there's mtn lions on the wet side, so who knows?
