Is there a club that hosts coon hunts for grade dogs or money hunts or anything for that fact I was thinking to help get more young guns into the sport of maybe starting something like that for the guys who would like to do some events or gatherings were it don't matter if your dog is reg but just good old fun make new friends but don't know what all entails to making a club or hosting events

Great idea!

I would support this, Start your own club and make the rules to match the needs of your club. I have to say to make it work, I would think you would need to scrub the competition style nonsense....Two hour cast and more time outs than the last two minutes of a football game that totally distract from the hunt....Get back to the basics of why we hunt and judge a dog on ability not gaming the system....I got to admit, I have never been on a two hour hunt that lasted all night?

Fundamental basics, ethics, Sportsmanship and work to develop young hunters and teach them the game...We have evolved into a society of cut throats and eliminating our future generation of up and coming hunters....

I would volunteer to guide a cast any time of young hunters where you could not pay me enought to ever again guide the "pros"

Give me a call any time Wyatt...Take care

The meeting I posted about on the OOC post was actually kinda a start of a eastern oregon club. We had this idea as well, to try to get non hounders involved and also trying to get a field trial setup back over here... Also we were talking about some kind of a bobcat hunt comp of some sort. We are going to have another meeting in November.

I heard there was some talk of some grade dog hunts. We may be planning one in Washington in the near future.

I bet you could get the low down from Johnny down in Brownsville. He has been a part of Fern Ridge for years or contact Jerry Ray with Marys peak....

Grade dogs would attract competition from a pile of the hound /running dog crowd for bobcats....I'm sure the same for coon....

Plus I think it would be a good thing to have the bobcat part of it for the young guys or new guys to get there dog out or even themselves and see and learn so that when they train they don't get discouraged and give up I just want to bring more people into the sport and strengthen the numbers of hounds men so r sport has a future an Sony die out
