Good unexpected Sunday run

Postby julio25 » Mon Jan 30, 2012 11:39 am

I was doing my honey do list about ten am when my brother called and said he just saw a bear cross the road. I asked what he wanted to do and he said he was already loading dogs up. So I called my dad and one other guy, loaded dogs and got in the wind. We waited for our buddy to get there before turning loose. Dogs trailed for just a little bit and found him about 1215. The block he was in had some freshly dug ditches all the way from one side to the other so we could see him everytime he crossed one. He walked and bayed for a long time. Got the last dog off him about 430. Saw some good dog work and learned some stuff about some young dogs. It was the first bear ever for three of the dogs and I thought they did damn good. They stuck till the end one even got his first battle scar. He got bit on the back leg and went back for more. Had good day with good running then went home to supper waiting for me. I don't think it gets much better than that.
