Looking for info on bear hunting in this area.

WHAT HAS YOUR INTEREST IN FENCE LAKE? NOT TO SURE THIS IS A GOOD CHOICE FOR BEAR, I'VE GUIDED FOR TROPHY ELK ON PRIVATE LAND, AND THAT'S PRIMARILY WHAT IT IS. IT'S A CHECKER BOARD OF SMALL CHUNKS OF BLM AND US FOREST.. LOOK UP NMDGF FOR THE BIG GAME UNIT MAP OR GAZETTEER MAP OF PUBLIC LAND TO HUNT.. GOOD LUCK..

Got an invite to come out and hunt a big chunk of private land. The owner says there are bears but the country doesnt look like the bear country im used to in new mexico.
Its a long drive from west virginia, and I know some good public ground out there. Just love to hunt new country.

OH, WELL IF YOU HAVE PRIVATE LAND AND A RECOMMENDATION, I WOULD THINK YOU WOULD BE IN GOOD SHAPE? IM SURE THERE ARE BEAR AND LIONS. WE HUNTED UNIT 15 IN NOVEMBER AND I FOUND TWO DECENT BEAR TRACK, AND THE COUNTRY DIDN'T LOOK LIKE BEAR COUNTRY ONE BIT. IM SURE THERE'S SOMEONE ON HERE THAT MAY HAVE A TIP OR TWO.. GOOD LUCK

There are bears in unit twelve, but they are few and far between. Dont know exactly where your hunting or with who. If you went elk hunting too it might be worth the trip.
