NY Bear Hunters

The NY DEC is currently drawing up a new 5-year bear management plan, which will be published for public comment beginning in September. The are currently requesting input from houndsmen before June 8. Please call, write, email, and/or give your input to the NY Houndsmen.
Yesterday, the region 4 bear biologist put down a bear on the SUNY Albany campus after repeated attempts to deter it. That is within city limits. Those in Albany have concerns about the exploding bear population and are inclined to be sympathetic. Lets step up and help them manage their problem!

"As you may be aware, NYSDEC will be developing a black bear management plan over the next year. To ensure we address all relevant issues, I am requesting a short list of NYS Houndsmen Conservation Association's primary concerns related to black bear populations and management in New York. This will not only help us develop the plan, but together with input we receive from other groups and organizations, will help us identify key priorities for the future of bear management.

We value your input and would appreciate receiving your feedback by June 8, 2012.

Please call me if you have questions or would like to talk more in depth about our black bear management program.
Thank you.
