wolves strike in Michigan

Postby Jlhoutfitters » Thu Oct 03, 2013 1:15 pm

While running in the trout lake area of the U.P. Last Friday the group I hunt with lost two hounds to wolves. We jumped a bear and put it across a rd heard the dogs go bayed and then everything got quiet. Lost two fine fine hounds. Both of which belonged to my friend. The other 4 got out with only only one other injured. The damn wolves didn't care at all that we where there and where brazen enough to surround a fellow hunter walking into see what happened.

Im sure some 1080 baits would work a trick You might miss your season but there would not be a wolf population any more

Pictures look familiar.. I think the dog in question was killed by a pack of coyotes. Wolves tend to be more aggressive when feeding and they don't just pick the meat off the bone like in the pic. but hey I could be wrong and if so I apologize...

sitting on the RD that the took the bear across 598 yrds away getting ready to go into a bay. and its for sure wolves they where seen at the kill and surrounded hunters going into retrieve dogs/collars. one dog was stripped in minutes the other wasn't found till the next day. ps lots of wolves means almost 0 coyotes!!
