The MNR is accepting comments on the partial reinstatement of the Spring bear hunt, the 2 year pilot will happen in select areas in Northern Ontario and will be open to residents only. Please take 5 minutes and leave them a message on the importance of bringing the full spring hunt back to Ontario so non residents can participate and bring some much needed revenue back to Central and Northern communities, Thanks guys.

Re: Ontario needs your help
I don't think they have any intentions of bringing back the spring hunt. Season is not open all over Ontario. Outfitters educate their hunters before the bear hunter goes afield after spring bears. My fear is there will be a city slicker from Toronto or Ottawa or somewhere else that will shoot a lactating female. Giving the anti's a reason to keep it shut. It is just a bear cull!!! I'm not sure if I can support it!!
In 1998 non residents spent 46 million in tourism dollars while spring bear hunting. These days that would equate to about 65 million revenue to the province. I would support a season for residents along with non residents. CO'S can't afford to gas up their vehicles, government can't afford to properly clear our highways in the winter, they close our tourist offices and they ignore the revenues that could be brought in by a non resident bear hunt. People out of work in Northern Ontario, think of the jobs that could be created by a non resident spring bear hunt. Don't be fooled into thinking this will be a lasting spring hunt.
