Bear to coon
I know it is my fault . Due to work I could not hut my dogs for 2 years, my red brindle plott dug a opossum out of a hole last night. Worked him hard on coon but the dog is from bear blood, always worked on bear when in WV, lost 2 wives over him, that opposum just about killed me know it's my fault, just don't have the heart to kill him, trying to work with some young coon hunters and my dogs are all bear bread and I am from Maryland hard to hunt USMC style. Not sure what I can do to fix this going forward.

So before the two year lay off how much was he hunted. I see you hunted bear but the last part said you have two bear under him. Is that all he's seen. If so can't be b to hard on him. Keep showing him.coon and praise him up for it, opossum aren't to hard to break a dog off.

Re: Bear to coon
A dog treein a possum every now and then ain't hurtin nothin no way. If you were bear huntin it would be a big deal but I wouldnt worry about it coon huntin. I'm not sayin to pet him up or shoot it out, but if he trees a possum he trees a possum. I definitely wouldn't kill a dog cuz they treed a possum.
If they don't bay, they don't stay
