3 separate times ive seen them try to hold one. twice when he got a dog down the others tried to take him the third was a small bear 130-150 13 dogs were on him an they had got her down an pretty much had her held.

Maybe I don't run enough dogs?? I usually run 4 to 8 dogs. With 13 dogs I am guessing they could just swarm the bear.

I was on a bear bay up with this dog last year and he did good baying it but wasn't a hair puller. Last week this dog got killed by a bayed bear. It was my friend's best dog.

Like I said small bear kept packin young dogs he would tree but jump b4 we got there. I'm a firm believer to many dogs can get a hound killed also. Old man told me once if a bear wants to tree 1 dog can tree him if he doesn't 100 can't.

May be you need make the gritty dog who want do an experiment I own 1 male jagdterrier 15 inches tall who has a female hound want breed to him if someone really interested we can paid collection 50/50 and I will send you the vial with the sperm or if you come down south florida. I just can tell you this dog will attack any animal in from of him

thanks on the walker an b&t bloodlines i aint never had no luck with a plott. seen alot of good ones jus cat seem to make one to suit me

I'll agree on the Lipper Walkers, mine are Lipper/Bozo crosses and they get the Lipper grit and the Bozo cold nose. I owned a gritty Swamp Rooster Redtick. Seen a couple pretty gritty blue dogs, that were coonstock, not bear bred. Never had luck with a plott.

I hunt bear with two redbones. The bigger one can tree a bear by himself and never pulls hair. He's just more intimidating to bears--loud bark, big size, smart. The smaller one works well with the bigger hound, and wools the bear all the time, but he isn't grittier. He has to pull fur to get the bear to pay him any respect. He doesn't get hurt if the big one is there working with him as a team, and they are better together than the bigger one is alone, but I would never let the one that pulls fur run a bear without company--he just isn't scary enough by himself. Everyone has there own preferences, and it is fun to watch them pull fur, but it isn't necessary to get a bear treed or bayed. If it comes to a choice between grit and brains, I prefer brains. Ideally you have both, even if it isn't in the same dog.

What line of red dogs u hunt my uncle used to coon hunt a timber chopper male an that was the dog fightingest dog iv ever seen he's jump on another hound in a heartbeat

He's just an old country coonhound. No Timber Chopper in him, fair amount of Hoffmeister and Hennings Chief and a whole lot you never heard of. Doesn't fight at the tree, but does demand respect from a younger dog. He's 10 now and still going strong, with the stamina of dogs half his age. The wool puller is mostly fireball bred, but he comes off as silly rather than intimidating, but a huge amount of heart.

You guys are messing around with the wrong plotts. Do your homework and find a good line of plott and you will want more of them . A good plott is very hard to beat IMO. I know my plotts pull hair regardless of the situation. not to many vet bills I do sticth them up myself often .I have not seen many other breeds do what these plotts will do.

Add some JAgdterrier blood to your hound and they will start pulling hair from the teeth at the end of the day
