FISHING FOR BEARS

Yesterday I had the grand-sons 8 and 10 years old out fishing and doing some hiking up near Gulf Hagas .The wife had made a loaf of bread , put in some peanut butter and jelly ,couple of candy bars ,and made some fruit punch for the BIG MEN in her life
Well we did the hiking first then decided to do some fishing at my SECRET fishing stream
I did haul in a cooler and a small folding table 4 fish latter catch and release the boys wanted a sandwich . So I slice the bread ,made up the PBJ 's and poured out the punch . 1/2 a sandwich latter the boys are back to fishing .
What to my wonderous eyes should appear but 2 small bears probably in the 75 -90 lb range trying to get into the left over sandwiches . I am guessing they were twin yearlings out on their own for the first time .As I neither heard nor saw a MOMMA bear around .Personally I thought it was NEAT but the boys were somewhat Apprehensive
Their first up close experience with bears
Took a few pictures and EXPLAINED to the boys WHY we could NOT play with them . Typical for their size both bears and kids I could NOT keep from laughing ,Certainly wish I had the Video cam with me . The talking between ourselves did NOT scare them away .Not sure If I should have chased them out or not .Thought it was a good learning experience for the boys .But now I am having second thoughts . As the Crow flies the nearest house was 12-15 miles away .
What would you guys have done
