Your thoughts??

Hey folks I have a 4 yo female finley bred female. I have had her on a few bear and she is real honest however I have one problem with her and I am not sure how to address it? When on the box she is very babbly. I guess what I mean is she will sometimes let out one or two barks. She knows shes not supposed to cause when she does it she winces. Like she knows she's gonna get buzzed. So I don't want to break her from striking and I think I have a lil already but this babblin bs makes me crazy. In my opinion she shouldn't be sayin a word unless she can smell the quarry. She will blow up on a fair track but it's like she can't help herself she has to do that one or two barks every so often. What would ya'll suggest? Kinda at a loss here she still needs a bit of work to finitsh her out on the box but will be hard to finish her when she is babblin like this. Is it somethin I will have to live with? I also hae a lil black and tan male about 18 mo and he is doin good up there. He hasnt started riggin yet but isn't afraid of it and is interested. I just don't want him to learn bad things. I would like to see him start here pretty soon but ya know how that goes. So what do ya think? Thanks folks.

Is this a dog you recently aquired? If not , this is something that should have been taking care of along time ago, now it has become a habit and will be tougher to deal with. That kind of crap drives me crazy as well, if she's a strike dog I wouldn't worry to much about ruining her by shocking her when she's babbling, heck a 4 yr. old knows when it's striking or babling. Take her out a few times where there is no chance of her striking the game you run and every time she opens shock her on the lowest seting that will make her take notice and when you do hunt her always keep the collar on her and keep after her for that crap. I have one that's the same way...he's our best bear dog, but gets so excited when we go out that he can't contain himself. He'll throw out little barks here and there and sometimes even a drawn out bay. We shock him and it usually stops for the rest of the ride/day, but he still rigs when he needs to. They definitely know the difference by that age! (He's somewhere around 3 years old)

The more you hunt this dog, you will be able to figure out when its babble or not. Stay consistant but fare as we all would like the perfect rig dog but they dont come around very often. Be thankful that you can tell the difference and that you have one that will work as I have seen plenty ride the rig very quite but dont find bears. I also road my rig dogs for a couple miles to knock the edge off them before I get to the rigging area seems to help. Just my two cents.
