West Virginia's game seasons are all screwy. You guys have tons of game and very little opportunity or rather time, to hunt any of it.

albrightred, you pretty much have the same deal as in Va. The Game Depts. feel they have to cater to the deer hunters to give them time to kill a bear if they happen to see one. Hopefully it is killed and doesn't go around with a broadhead or muzzle loader bullet in it till it dies of infection. The deer hunters have more numbers and spend more money on licenses so they get favortism, pure and simple. It isn't right and will be denied, but it is a fact.

ya what i dont understand is this year they brought bear season without hounds in the same day as buck season so the deer hunters could kill both a bear or deer an i bet 95% of the bear killed we killed over corn when its illeagal to bait bear in wv!!!!!!! why couldnt they have to wait two weeks an hunt when we do???

In Va. after the bow hunters and muzzle loaders get their turn the rifle hunters get the second week of rifle deer season to kill bear. Nothing but politics, you should have read all of the letters from the people who opposed buying a seperate bear tag but sure wanted to kill one if by "chance" they saw one. The game Dept's in all of the states are eaten up with politics and don't think most, not all, of the biologists in these Dept's cater to keeping the most people happy and buying licenses. More politics.
Most biologists, once again not all, are interested in managing numbers (these numbers equate to game animals but I don't think most biologists really have an attachment to the game, but once again a few do) and they don't care what group of hunters, nor what hunting means are used to manage these numbers. There are a lot of biologists, just like Game Wardens, or whatever politically correct title they sport, who would just as soon the dog hunters go away. The biologists will then merely use the other groups to manage the numbers. It is a sad but true fact. Good luck hunting.
