For all the guys using popcorn as bait, do you use a popcorn machine to make it? Or is there any other ways?
Thanks.

I think the thing that worked best for me was my deep fry turkey pot on the propane burner. You can make a lot very fast. Good luck.

Popcorn is our main bait at our camp. I purchased 2 commercial poppers 12 year's ago. In the 80's we used other means of popping but couldn't keep up to 60 baits. It takes a lot of popcorn to feed a bear. They love the corn but it goes right through them. Popcorn alone WON"T keep multiple bear's at bait site. I mix the flavoured popcorn with other bait to keep bear's at a site. Which is about 6 gallons every day.

I use 3 hot-air poppers, buy the unpopped popcorn in 50 lb. bags, takes about 30-40 minutes to pop a 55 gallon drum worth. One 50 lb. bag does about 3.5 barrels. A few years ago a guy could get a 50 lb. bag for around $15, cheapest I can find now is about $30.
I'm sure there is a faster way. I also mix it in with cookies, etc.

Long time ago we used hot poppers too but they would burn out on us. Now air poppers are hard to find. We would normally buy our corn in Winnipeg but they raised the price to $49.00 for 50 pounds. We went and bought our popcorn at Sam's Club in Eau Clair Wi. last month, 20 bags at $28.00 per 55 pounds. We now have it totally popped and ready to go. Took 3 weeks!! We store the popped corn in our large walk in cooler and freezer building. One bag of kernals is about 5 large garbage bags.

When I was in Maine we had all the local kids over and they popped the corn over an open fire.. Mixed with strawberry jello powder and hung between 2 trees in a trash bag. Bear would swat the bag open then spend hours mulling around the bait cleaning every kernel up...
