Looking into buying a new hound soon, was looking to buy a Cameron bred dog but I've herd excellent stories about Duncan's black and tans. witch one would be a good choice cause I want a little speed too.

Both are good choices, as are other breeds and strains. I think there is a little better chance on getting cold nose from the Duncan dogs depending on where you get one from. I think there is a little better chance of speed with the Camerons, but the same appies as to where you get one from.

thanks for the reply, yeah If I got a Duncan dog it would be straight from him. As far as Cameron's go I don't know much about them but what I read on here. Where would you get a good Cameron from?

How cold of nose do you want, a day old bear track could take you on a long walk, atleast where I hunt bears. 2 to 4 hours old is about all I would want to run. Any older and you may do more trailing then catching.

Sorry, I won't make a recommendation. If I knew of a cross I thought would be worth a try I would let you know, but I don't know of any right now.

I understand cobalt . If anyone knows of any please pm! It doesn't have to be blue dogs or Black and Tans. I actually favor a good old red dog and walker . But like I said I've herd nothing but good about mr.duncans dogs.Im not color blind so if any crosses are made let me know . Thanks everyone for the help

I question if there any dogs that can consistently run 12+ hour old bear tracks. I know it can happen under the right conditions a bear crosses in the evening and its cool at night with no wind but under any other conditions the scent evaporates to quickly. I have fairly cold nosed dogs and several years ago I turned on an hour old track in 90 degree heat and I could barely get it started I ended up treeing after a short race. I normally would not run a bear in weather that hot but I recognized the bear as being an easy treer.
