HI everyone, what is the easiest hound breed to train, im a newbie at this because i would like to get a true hound, but if at all possible one that i could train and turn into a good hound

Hahaha I don't think there is such a thing as an easy one to train. I've got a walker pup that I've had for a year and still can't do anything with him. It starts with where you get him from. You need to know where you're getting him from really well to make sure he won't comin from no dern puppy factory. But also you need to expose em young. You know even if its not specifically on a bear just get him out in the woods at a young age and get him to run a squirrel, rabbit, coon, ect, to trigger that natural instinct. Then as they get the hang of it and get a little bit bigger put him in with other dogs on a bear. Eventually he'll learn to do it on his own. But as far as easy to train, I don't think there is any one perfectly trainable breed. Good luck with it though

my breed of black and tan are the easeist to train. that I have ever had and I have had all breeds. been hunting 50+years no brag just fact

The easiest breed to train in Black and tans, rebones and plotts. This is because the training scent is easier to find. All you have to do is train said dogs to follow the bluticks and walkers and when the walkers and bluticks tree the bear the Plotts will be there with 15 min, the redbones will get there about the time you do and the Black and tans will be there by the time you leave the tree. I have several good bottles of walker and bluetick scent that you can pour on your lab or cow dog if you dont have a walker or bluetick to run with pack.

Now that's funny! But there's also a lot walker n blue strains that need some of that scent off the rite strain of there own breed.
