Please read to the end!
just logged on and read the other post with all the controversy over a bayed bear. This stuff needs to be removed from the open forum along with any and all other forms of discussion!

Very well said and 100% true
Re: Please read to the end!
I wonder where the snare program would be if the agents and Aphis and the timber companies posted their highlights on youtube?

Re: Please read to the end!
Mike is there any way to get pictures of some of Cali and OR's methods of taking bears, cubs, etc? We need some footage, pictures and I believe you have some correspondence with State officials about their methods of take. Any help would be appreciated.

I simply fear the worst where our public officials are concerned....They define ignorant and are in control of policy making in State...For this reason and this alone is why I haven't gone nuclear! Someway we need to get this information exposed and let the policy makers decide if this really is how our wildlife should be managed and was this their "intent" when they passed the laws that were simply exploited by our very own ODFW?

Maybe we should abandon this thread and start a new one in the Members only section?

Mike PM sent.
Re: Please read to the end!
Mike, let me first say that you are right. I have enjoyed our conversation and learning points we have discussed. However, my issue with the video had nothing to do with the amount of dogs on the bear (although I thought it to be much, I understand the need to get young dogs exposed, etc.) it was the fact that I'm the original video, before it was edited early on in the thread, it had the bear bayed and a yound man lassoing it with a tree tie lead and jerking him backwards a few times. I don't know if you had saw the original video, but I'm sure if you had you wouldn't have been able to bite your tounge either. You are absolutely correct though, a pm might have done more good as far as trying to police up our own on the down low. On another note, my son and I drove down to anchorage last night to pick up "his" very first hound, a new Albert b&t pup. Got some high hopes for it.

Re: Please read to the end!
I would just like to point out the fact that putting the spotlight on the USDA is not the answer. Mike, I know what it is like to be passionate about hound hunting and searching for every angle to get a leg up. That being said you have a very valid point, ADC guys do not broadcast what they do. If seasoned hound doggers took the initiative to reach out to two upstart hunters and explained what you just did it would go a long ways. Instead of trying to validate methods why not take a very deserving lesson and learn from it.
Rights were lost with the use of TV commercials. Social media is way more effective, its simple. Until people learn these kind of videos are not acceptable and it becomes frowned upon by the Dog hunting world in general it will be a hard hump to get over. Chastizing these guys is not the answer either, that culture needs changed. Education is the key, can not emphasize that enough.
