Do spring Bears Tree faster than Fall Bears, just wondering because they don’t have the fat on them like the fall bears do? Would like to hear from other people and see what everyone thinks.

Spring bears are skinny and spring hounds are fat lol but the spring bears in Canada do run better than the fall bears

We don't have a spring bear season anymore in New Mexico but when we did it could make for a long days.
If you can get on a spring bear in the rough rocky country very soon after he comes out of the den, his pads are still soft and he will get sore footed and stop or climb pretty quick. But let him be out for a bit and toughen up his pads and holy smokes! you will think you are running a coyote!!!!

Mike, you seem like you have been there and done that. I hunted bear a few times between Cardova and Taos, really did enjoy hearing a good bear race but when they left out the race faded pretty quick. I kinda have an idea that a mature bear is tough enough that they could whip off a pretty large and gritty pack of hounds without much trouble if they wanted to. Wonder why they run and tree?
