Never seen one, the largest one i've seen the tribal complaint officer killed in the mid 80's in the twin lakes resort, they put it on the scales whole and it weighed 398. I don't believe we have enough food and they hibernate for to many months to get that big in eastern washington, i've heard them say some 500#ers in north idaho but i've yet to see or meet anyone that has killed a legitimate 500.

For me dead scaled weight was 468 # but seen 3 that were bigger .
Around here to break that 500 # mark you need a lot of length to go with the girth to get that big. I believe a lot of big bears are put into the catagory of 500# striclty on the size of their belly . a 6-6 1/2 foot bear is probably not going to get to the 500# range .

Heres a couple of pics of one we killed last Nov. The weight is after it was gutted. Like most of those big ones, this was one of the easier ones all year.

I can remember 3 that we got that were just over 500 dressed. Dad was in on a hunt a few years back where they got one that was 620 live, so it would have been over 5. I probably know of another 4-5 that dressed out over 5.

There sure are a lot more 5 hundos "seen" in the summer. It seems every other bear is 500lbs.

It's just like what a tournament walleye guy told me one time "A lot of those 10 lb walleyes turn into 8.5 when they hit a certified scale." :D

0 for me. Biggest I have ever had killed over my dogs was 422,live weight.Have killed several in the 3 to 375 range. Some of thse were dressed weights so live weight they might have gone over the 422 but thats the most I have ever seen one on the scale at.

Pretty hard to get to 500 lbs in New England. We just dont have the feed and they hibernate so long.a bear would have to eat an awful lot of beechnuts and acorns to get that big !!

A few years ago I tried out a dog for sale in N Carolina. I couldnt get over the size of the bears there.I saw pictures of a bunch of 5 to 600 lbers.I saw tracks that were bigger than any I have ever seen around here. The feed there was unreal.Corn, soy beans, peanuts, and tons of natural stuff. The guy I ran with there told me the bears hardly even hibernated in that area. I can sure see how they can get big there !!!

Not quite sure, several every year. Not so many in the summer time, we tend to leave those alone till kill season. 2007, 2 killed over 600 live weight and 2 over 500. Have a good buddy that took one that was 684. 2008, 1 over 600 and 4 between 450 and 550. All were weighed on certified scales.

I've only had one true one in. It was 7'6" bear. I had a lot of bears in that measured 6'9" but they were mostly 350-400 lbs. It would be pretty tough to find one here in Idaho in the Spring after hibernating all winter.
