More Hounds Killed By Wolves

Post by bullriver »

On Tuesday, Jan 5th my 2yr old B@T hound and a walker owned by Mel Siefke of Libby Mt. were killed by a pack of wolves while treeing a lion in the Yaak River valley North of Troy, Mt. We contacted the F@G, and they informed us that our dogs had trailed the cat onto a ridge where the wolves den. They were doomed. Somehow, by some miracle, my young female redbone, and another male walker escaped. It is beyond comprehension how brutal this killing was. There is no excuse for not alerting the public to areas like that...they are essentially saying they choose the wolves over our animals! I raised my dog from a pup, and he was making a fine hound. I will miss him...and I will get even!!!

P.S.
There were no wolf tracks in the area, and all 4 dogs had bells on.

Sorry for your lost people don't understand the bond between a man and his hounds.
I was working some pup in the low lands last weekend and still could not get away from our friend the wolf. Good luck with the getting even two wolves for every dog is a good rule to go by.
It must BAY or BRAY !!

I can see another reason now why you dont hunt Topper Again Andy. Sounds like there are just too many wolves running around out there in Montana!

Been there done that, I know how it feels. Last week I put down on fresh lynx tracks and got out foxed. The next morning I returned to hunt the same area and the wolves had ran a grid pattern looking for the dogs. When they found nothing they moved over to the place where the dogs chased the other lynx. A little unnerving.
Sorry for your loss.

Jay, I am terribly sorry for the loss of your hounds. Are the other two OK? I sincerely hope so. I am the guy that lost the hound over by Luther a couple weeks ago. The FWP also told me the same story, that there was a known pack living in the area, AFTER my dog was already dead. I think that it should be public knowledge where ALL known denning areas are. I went out this morning and cut 2 wolf tracks. They were fresh enough to make the hair on my neck stand up. Too much timber or we would have been short of a few of our prized wolves

Again, I am truely sorry.

I didn't want to have to look at that anymore...I would appreciate it if you would please delete those pics. That is my hound and it is really hard to see him like that. If anyone needs to see em they could be e- mailed.
Thank you

Trak
Thanks for removing the photos of my dog..It's too hard to see him like that. I raised him from a pup. The pics are very relevant but, tough to see. People need to see what those vicious S.O.B's are capable of, so I don't blame you for wanting to post them. Maybe if they ask, you could just e-mail the pics to them.
Thanks again!
