Find dog vs Bay dog

Postby mountain top » Fri Apr 20, 2012 3:50 pm

please excuse me for asking what maybe a dumb question. I have seen hog dogs advertised as Find dogs, I know what a bay dog is, in hog hunting do some people use a different dog to strike and one to run and another to bay?

Most good "trail" dogs will bay and find hogs. Just another name for them i guess. I got one that i will send of on old sign and wait till it strikes. then the box is getting dropped lol. so you could call him a strike dog i guess. :P

well in a nutshell they should just be called hog dogs and all should be able to find their own hogs . now what i call my strike dog or [ find dog ] is just the dog that i most allways hear first on a regular basis . just a little quicker to be in the right spot at the rite time . bay dogs is just younger dogs that may not be ranging out as much as the find dogs and still figureing it all out . but anyone that has a pack of dogs and thinks he or she needs to go and buy them a strike dog . actually most than likely has one allready just needs more woods time and more hog tracks . bay dogs is just that bay dogs may find a pig but can't and won't put teeth on one to stop a runner . this just my opinion all my dogs find strike run and bay or they'r gone .

kinda what I figured, just like a bear, coon or any other broke dog, it should be able to do it all.
