Quicky morning hunt

Postby longshot » Thu Aug 02, 2007 7:40 pm

On a invite hunt just South of Hondo Texas, at daylight we turned out 2 Jagds, 1 cur and a silent hound.

We roaded the dogs for about an hour and finally got into some fresh sign. The dogs got very hoggy in front of the truck and the cur followed by the hound and Jagd shot in to the brush. We could see all 3 of them hoping over the tall grass and bobbing around. Finally the Jagd opened and the other dogs were right behind her. They bayed him were he stood and I walked the catch dogs within 10yards and turned loose. I couldn't even see the hog the vegetation was so thick. He heard the catch dogs barreling in and broke bay. He went another 100yards or so and I heard my cur stop and bay then the catch dos nailed him. They got him caught this time and we drove the truck up the road and only had to brake brush for about 15yards.

I field dressed him and we drug him out. Back at the ranch house he was 150lbs on the scale hanging weight. He only had little 3\4 needle teeth but he managed to poke the dogs all up.
