Re: mastiff catch dog
Gday JST are a bit big heavy and combersome and prone to suffer from overheating. Though they bring a lot of strenght and nose when used in a X . Masstiff x's are very common over here bullmasstiffx ridgedack, masstiffxdane, rottweillerxbullterrier, just to name a few. Its all about horses for corses and we use a x that suits the country we hunt.

Re: mastiff catch dog
I used a fench mastiff once, my brother raises bull mastiffs and english mastiffs and took the french in on a trade. Anyway i ended up with the dog and tried him, he was catch crazy but he hated my ol male dog cowboy and would start shit at home all the time, he was leggy and could run good but he finnly jumep ol cowboy one two many times and i shot him and threw him to the side and didn't look back. The bull mastiffs are "i think" to heavy to handle the heat and the english to slow and cumbersome plus they couldn't even breed if it got 85+ so if your in the south i would sway away from them and try some dogo or pit dogo cross, there was an add on bay dogs were a guy had some pit/dogo pups for 150$ not bad cause if you liked them you could breed'em for that price

Re: mastiff catch dog
dogos are fine but a big english mastiff is a defitite no. They have no agility and they do not have quick movements. For example if the hog went after it a mastiff could not dodge it in time and would most likely get injured.
