Actually, I like to cross some plott into my curs for the endurance and the range, my catahoulas have to demonstrate the ability(nose) to put a hog at the end of a hog track before they are candidates for breeding to anything.

My objection to your post is that instead of contenting yourself with talking up the good points of the breed you were advocating, you badmouthed the other breeds being discussed. I have the same problem with “plott guys”, I like plotts, they are my prefered breed of hound, but the people I refer to as “plott guys” have a tendency to bad mouth other breeds, just as you did in your post.

I said that you reminded me of “plott guys”, not that you were. You responded with more badmouthing of catahoulas and bmcs. As far as I am concerned, I am more than willing for your future actions to determine how you are percieved. But if you don’t want to be reckoned among the “plott guys” you might want to consider not acting like them.

Whoa there Bill,
I dont remember badmouthing any of the other breeds & I have been a plott man for 30 years. Seen good & bad in all breeds including plotts. Have owned alot of Catahoulas & a few BMC's & as well as most of the hound breeds. One thing for sure, there are a heck of alot more sorry ones out there than good ones.
When u include all plott Guys as badmouthing other breeds, that is just as bad as what u are saying of the other post badmouthing catahoulas & bmc's. We are not all tarred with the same brush.lol
West Tx. Curs, U might not believe it, but I have seen a few Catahoulas that were extremely coldnosed & could take any track a good coldnose hound could take. What confuses alot of people is because a dog is silent, does not mean he does not have a good nose. Show me a dog that consistently comes up with the game & u can bet that dog has a excellant nose, no matter what the breeding is, or whether he is silent or open. JMO

Cajun,I agree with you %100.And I have seen some good dogs in most all breeds.I sure wasnt trying to bad mouth any of them.I like a good dog whatever he might be.But I consistantly see a better nose on Kemmers,Plotts, and Hounds.I have been around long enough to know a big mouth dont mean a good nose. That also works both ways, seen dead silent dogs that could trail very well. Bill, dont guess I have anything else I can say.Didnt mean to come off as talking smack.Seems like you were the one attacking,to me.Oh,I aint a Plott guy either.I have some of everything, even some of those Blackmouths, and Catahoulas.I try not to fly any breeds flag.Things I like in all of them.Things I dont like in all of them.

Hey Bill,
Its no big deal, I tell u, instead of people badmouthing breeds, in my opinion some of the owners need to be badmouthed for feeding such sorry dogs.lol But it all goes back to a dog only has to please the owner that feeds it.

Well looked into it A mountain view cur original mountain cur a stephen cur and a kemmer cur are all the same breed.Mvc gives a money back guarantee if for some reason you are not happy.Weird the hounds were the same way they all were foxhounds or are a treeing fox hound.Cant believe how a perforance dogs were spilt into breeds over color.Funny the pitbull is the same way what they try to pass off as a pitbull is funny as hell .All the sudden they are blue hippos. Also a little wierd how some of the cur have long ears and throw black and tans.Well before I put my money down I want a guarentee, money back.If a man as a line of dogs that he says will run game etc and I waste a year thats the least he could do.Well have to buy something soon

having a guarantee with the pup is the best way to go. how much are they asking for a mountain view cur? i have a money back and a pup from a different cross guarantee if i don't like my walker pup, but i paid a pretty price for her. most breeders will give a guarentee on there pups but most of the time those pups tend to cost alittle more. good luck on your search.

I have no problem with any of the dogs in her pedigree, it's good to know that she came from top small game as well as big game dogs. yes i would guarentee her pups to make hog dogs. i already have 5 pups spoken for so i hope she has atleast that many.

I personally prefer to get a pup for free off of a guy that I know hunts the game I am goin to hunt or give him 50 bucks or so, 100 at the most. Aint no guarantee or anything but I wouldnt buy a pup off of anybody that I had to even worry about that shit. All that being said, I have bought them $300 pups before. Aint none of em ever seen their 2 year old birthday at my house either. Get your pups off of somebody that wears his gear out huntin the dogs he has and you will do a hell of alot better. I would rather take a Walker dog pup to hunt hogs with off of some fella that bear hunts the shit out of his dogs than a "Blackmouth" pup off of some jag bag that is sellin a piece of shit paper trail. Nothin but a bunch of hand jobs if ya ask me. I know a fella that has dogs that are black mouth type cur dogs from Texas and I would damn sure take a pup off of him. I would go so far as to say that I would even bring em up here and give huntin yotes a shot with em. Reason being is that I know he was wearing his dogs smooth the f@^k out at one time catchin hogs.

I breed my dogs every now and then, I keep most of the pups, I also sell a few here and there, mostly to guys I know and have dogs that came out of my yard. I dont guarantee any dog, and you can take that how you like, but I dont do it because I cant guarantee the handler, and I dont feel it's right to have to buy a dog back after a year or so, that hasn't had proper training or the guy put's the dog in a kennel for a year and expects it to be super dog right out of the gate. And I have seen more times then not, if a dog doest work out, that has the breeding behind it and is of sound body and mind, it's the handler or lack there of. Sorry I know I'm off topic, but that's just how I feel about some one wantting a guarantee on a pup.

Ive got pups comming, they are a combination of kemmer, catahoula, airedale and Plott. They have always been silent trailing rough dogs. Ill sell a few here if there are any left. I dont want any more money than the shots and feed put into them. No guarantees. I could guarantee that my best dog could turn to crap if I put her the wrong hands or sits in the kennel for the next 2 years so guarantees are bs.
