He has a big barrel chest and large hoofs on him. Without seeing him in person I will guess 255lb field dressed He is a brute! Did you weigh him? If so lets get some more guesses before you reveil the answer.
What is the story on him Billy?

Not much of a story on him longshot. I was guiding a deer hunter and I put him up on the point of a rimrock while I walked the canyon below to try to jump up a good sized buck that I knew was in there. I jumped up the buck, a bull elk, and this hog. He saw the buck but didn't get a shot, heard the elk but didn't see it, and shot this hog when it ran up to about 10 feet from him. Since he is paying for both a hog hunt and a deer hunt I couldn't complain, but I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to run this one with dogs. On the other hand I didn't have a vet bill, so I guess it all comes out in the wash.
I will let you know what he weighed in a few days.

Thanks Longshot.
I agree that its a pretty good hog, although it is about the smallest that I have got since about the first of may. Thats about when the farmers east of here start planting corn and most of the hogs leave for the corn fields about then. Last week, for the first time all summer, I found the tracks of some 125 to 150 lb hogs and I am going to try to get my pups on them tomarrow. I've been looking for something to get these pups on for about a month now, but haven't wanted to turn a 7 month old pup loose on a 250 to 285 lb hog that was just ripping up my big dogs. Now that the corn is mostly harvested, I hope to get these pups a lot of work for the next 60 to 90 days. Hopefully I will find out if they are worth feeding or not.

Nice pig Bill
I just got back from Tex. on the Red river near Memphis.
We caught 6 head , 250 # the bigest, no mean ones
All boars but one. Lots of hogs there.
We run down river on 4 wheelers, no water in river. Few water holes.
Had a couple of runners that we didn,t catch.

Hipshooter,
Who did you hunt with up there in N.Texas? Sounds like you had a good trip. Did you run any dogs?

Hey Milton, good to hear from you again, seems like its been awhile. Congrats on a good trip to TX. Maybe I can meet you down there some time. I need to go somewhere that I can get some young dogs on several hogs in a fairly short time. I have enough hogs here to keep experienced dogs fairly well tuned up, but its getting harder to make a young dog. Where you went sounds like a good place. I am also looking at a couple of places in CO that are said to have pretty good densities.
I tried to get the young dogs on some medium sized hogs saturday, but ended up on a lion that won't tree, so all I got was some sore footed dogs. I've run this lion about 4 times before, but my dogs either aren't good enough, or I don't have enough of them out at a time to tree him. He just bays for a few minutes, then runs a quarter to half mile, then bays again, then runs again, ect. all day long. He seems to know about how fast I can move, and always breaks bay and runs just before I get there. I've been within 60 yards of a bay, but have never seen him. I've seen a lot of his tracks though. Someday he will make a mistake though, and then I will get him. I've never been able to get on him when I'm looking for a lion, every time I've run him I was looking for hogs and happened to be running a hog dog that will also run lion, and some of my hog dogs are strictly hog dogs, so I've never had more than three dogs on him at once. Maybe next time.
