july hounds

Has anyone ever used them on hogs and if so how were they at the bay? I imagine they can push one they have to be fast to run down a coyote; just not sure of their grit. I have never been around them.

I'm far from an expert on Julys, But if there is a chance of running dogs, being bay dogs also, I've tried a line of triggs and so far, she has stuck with some dam rough bear, she is only two, might want to consider them, good luck

I have a treeing walker out of cracker creations in Florida, that bays very well, fast on a running hog and will not quit. Two nights ago he ran a big boar 6 1/2 miles, bayed, ran the bulldog in and no cigar. Ran the boar back 6 1/2 miles to where we found him, bayed him again, he broke after I had already cut the catchdog loose, so I then got ahead of them, watched the boar cross the gravel, huffing and puffing and foaming at the mouth. I caught the dog as he crossed behind the boar and loaded him up. Over a 13 mile chase in about 3 1/2 hours. And there isnt a doubt in my mind that If I would have let him he would have bayed the hog again. I only have one walker but out of nine baydogs(plots, redticks,catahoulas,plot/BMC) he is the best on a running hog. I say go for it on the July's, although they are alot bigger than I prefer in a baydog, and cant get away from a bad hog when it needs to.
IT AINT THA SIZE OF THA DOG IN THA FIGHT, ITS THA SIZE OF THA FIGHT IN THA DOG. http://www.dogemdownsouth.com http://dogemdownsouth.smfforfree.com

I'm not an expert either but I'm tellin you they do not bay well at all. Its absolutely emberassing to be quite honest. I'm a big fine of a good July too so its not like I'm breed bashin here. I've owned as many of them as most on this site if not more. They are not bay dogs at all.

Dan ,

Thank you I think I am going to go with some plotts out of Roy Stiles line. I have some from Bill Reddick's and I think the cross shold be very good. Had a litter of ten pups out of my female bred to Cowboy Up and man did they ever sell. Sold 8 and had to give two for stud fee well worth it.
