Yes I feed it and bear and deer meat to them all the time. I take a big cauldron and build a fire under it and let is cook overnight. It will smell so good you will want to eat it yourself. You can put some taters in with it for filler. I do not feed them a whole lot of raw meat however.

You can feed it raw or cooked. If you feed it raw you will need a better worming program.

Yes and I feed it to myself also. Raised 3 kids and my first ex-wife on it. You can feed it to the dogs raw, boil it and add cornmeal to thicken the water. I buy 100 lb sacks of cornmeal and cook up a wash kettle full about once a week. Just cut the meat up in 2'' chunks and boil it until done then stir in cornmeal until thick and let cool. It will be pretty firm when it cools and I use a shovel to get it out and feed the dogs. Oh and add a little salt to it also. They will do real good on it and love the taste. Some times I will stir in a gallon or so of good commercial dog food before I add the cornmeal. I have been know to stir in a gallon of horse and mule feed too. My dogs go around eating the horse and mule off the ground where it fell out of ole Betsy and Kitty's mouth so I know it won't hurt them.

Cooking it defeats the purpose of feeding the meat, it loses all of its nutritional value if you cook it. All you should do is freeze it for a week or so then feed it. I always leave a lil hide to help digestation, I really like it when we run up on a buch of shoats, Ill gut em and freeze them whole and feed it to the dogs whole, bones and all.

We kill alot of critters all year long, whatever the family and I don't eat, the dogs do. I never cook it for the dogs and they seem to like it that way. I just take it out of the freezer and let it thaw. I mostly mix it with a little dog food. I use ivo. once every three months with no issues.

used to feed iot alot.Broncobilly hit it on the head, you better step up the worming progam if you feed it raw.I'd cook it in a 55 gallon drum with corn meal, carrots, cellerey, radish's,apples, and leave it as fatty as possible.

If cooking meat took out all the nutritional value then my dogs would have starved to death a long time ago. So would you and I for that matter. Meat, cooked or not, is full of protein. I don't cook it well done or burn it. It looks like a steak cooked medium.

the majority of the hogs i take are fed to the dogs. always raw.. never had a worm issue. not that i think there is something wrong or bad with cooking it.....im just not going to cook them dinner. ill give the heart to the dog that found the hog and while im gutting and skinning i always toss chunks here and there to em. with a yard full of dogs one hog is gone in a few days.l

I do the same thing when I am gutting or skinning a bear or hog I will throw them chunks to eat on, but I do cook some of the blood out of it when I am feeding it for multiple meals.

If we wind up with a bunch of shoats that I don't feel like cleaning a lot of times I'll just throw a whole quarter in the pen hide, hoof and all. Dogs do fine on it and haven't had worm problems, but I worm every month so maybe the wormer is just getting them. Other than that, if the people freezer is full what we catch goes in the dog freezer and gets thawed out as I need it.
