I have had 2 red bones and both were very, very good hog dogs. Rough as hell, good noses(better when not so dry), and stamina to finish a track no matter what. Their grit did shorten their life span, but both were very solid & I wouldn't hesitate to use another.

I sold a pup to a guy in Texas and he uses her on hogs in Texas and Tennesee and says she is doing real good for him.
Montana Red Kennels - redbones that catch game and hold it until you get there.

i finally got my redbones. i have had them for about two weeks now. there both about a year and a half old and never seen a hog in there life. i threw them in a lot with two 150 lb hogs (boar and a sow) and them redbones jumped on them like they have done it twenty times before. and they didnt even have to be showed by another dog. i am very impressed with them and will not be selling them anytime soon lol i will have puppies next year if i can find a male to breed to my female. they are also the most beautiful dogs i have owned.

A redbone should (by instinct) take to a hog, but how it would do on it depends on the dog.
I have seen hounds in general do a lot of things with hogs.
Some Bay loose and bay there heads off and wont ever sink teeth into one.
Some are more or less running catch dogs they are so gritty.
A redbone should do fine as long as you train them enough prior to the actual hunt.
Keep on putting them in the pen, less hogs in a bigger pen.
And see how the find and bay.
BTW pm me I would LOVE to get my hands on a good ol redbone again
