Hi,
Well I am allowed one more dog before the wife decides to wack me about it.

Both 5 months old, both healthy, both same price. Im dead stuck
American bulldog pup, female. Already catching, and is learning to hot trail.wind. Mom and dad are RCDs and have found their own hog before. Very good bloodline too, at 5 months old she can hang from a rope with her jaws.

And a brindle cur, male. At 5 months old is finding his own hogs, baying his own hogs, and when it comes time he will catch a hog too.

I am just dead stuck between the two and not sure exactly which to pick, suggestions?

Personally, I would take the cur, but then I've never hunted in Florida, which I am sure is very different from NM. However, if even 1/2 what I think I know about Florida is true, then I'd still take the cur.

Good luck

Bill

hell it's possible cajun i start working my dogs on drags at 3 months and i have had em bay up on some pigs at 4 months while out workin em and letting them run and get woods wise . but they was by no means hog dogs, yet they knew to run a scent to a caged shoat and if they was out rompin and ran across a trail they would follow it to a hog and bay real loooose .

When someone says "finding it's own hogs", I'm thinking if I kick him out in fresh sign, he should go run a hog about 90% of the time.

Halfbreed, I ain't doubting that you got some dogs that are showing promise at that age, but I think Cajun is just trying to help this young man wade through all the BS that me and you have seen and heard 100 times. LOL

yeah i understand that . i just assumed even a novice would know not to expect too much if anything from a dog at 5 months old . was just sayin it's possible . but although i've had em doin it i dont hunt my dogs till a year old . but if it's a good bred dog it should have the want to at that age.

Comes from a guy named Jim Fraiser here in fl real nice dogs always outta him.
And well I saw the dog at 2 months old, already catching and baying hogs (catching a baying a 100 pounder with just one other pup at 9 months old)
So they are all very nice dogs.
The dogo was deaf in one ear, so I gave her away.

Hi guys,
just a heads up. Yes that dog is out of Jims big yeller dog. And yes cajun he aint a pup no more!
At 6 months old he is huge for a cur dog he is at around 50 pounds last time I weighed him.
He is great at baying, he catches hard, and is still learning to find but he has found his own hog before. I think at a year to a year and a half he will be finished out
