It is a major subject of discussion. What to throw on a bay/strike dog!
Some people throw nothing at all on them, others just a collar, and others a short vest. Some a full length vest!
I specifically ask for this new cur dog I have can and will get catchy so I wanted to get him some protection.
What do you all think? What do you run on your dogs? From nothing at all to a full vest and collar!
Baydog Protection, what do you all do?

cut collars on all of them ,cut collar and a full bay vest on my catchy bay dog .
Re: Baydog Protection, what do you all do?
bulldog gets the vest and collar all the rest just get the collars . i've tried running vest on the bay dogs just allmost impossible in the thick stuff . plus the fact i ain't never found one that wouldn't rub the dogs armpits raw to the piont they couldn't run any more took em off and never thought of it again . gotta have a smart dog that knows when to get in and when to stay out . thers a fine line between grit and ignorance .

Good points of view.
The new dog I have now is very smart, he won't go in there eyes closed and grab hold of a
, or get a bad hog by himself. He is smart, and knows if he is fighting a prize fighter you want to stay away from him not go at him.
If a dog catches, so will he. If its small, say around or under 80 pounds hes caught. As soon as the catch dog catches or even initiates the catch he jumps right in there.
A question, when running a collar and a bay vest (which is normally short perhaps up to the shoulders) do you think it being so short helps the dog? or puts it for more of a risk of death by tusk?
Biggest thing for me is this, this dog is only 6 months old and is running in the woods with other dogs. The dogs balls havent even dropped hes still a pup and I don't want to crush his spirit by putting him on a terrible hog. Or if he gets hit some protection. My biggest worry is that when that hog is pushing he will get to behind where the bay vest covers and f**K him up real bad. Which leads me to a full length vest, but I live in Fl so although the dog is more protected and the vest is light weigh, and flexible, but restricts his movement and can get hot. Which leas me to a sole collar, but he can get cut to any body part like that.
I have always had the mentality when everything goes wrong, when the hog has every advantage and you and your dog have none, the right gear will save your dog.

Re: Baydog Protection, what do you all do?
hell catcher it's all up to the DOG GODS whether a dog gets damaged with full vest or without . just gotta turn em out an say you a little prayer to the dog gods and go on . a full vest mighta saved one of my dogs and a bib thingy might of saved another . thems the only two i've lost in 12 years now . usually if they getting there arsses handed to em they back up and bay till me an the b-team get there . but as to your question . the short strike dog type vest would have covered where the two i lost got cut notice i didn't say save just cover the spot cause those was two differant big hogs with plenty of dog whoopin exp. and some devilishly long cutters .

Ok, I am thinking of throwing a strike vest on him and a collar. I think for his purposes thats all we need.
