Does eney one use blue heelers on hogs or has eney one in the past what are your thoughts on the matter?

Seen a few make some decent dogs.

A good mate of mine kept them for years we hunted those cattle dogs on just about anything we have here. they were good close range finders and plenty of heart to get the pigs stopped.

Are you serious with the "eney" thing? just curious.

We had a heeler that didn't really hunt but she would let you know were the hounds were!!

Ya we used them in the thick cover to flush out hares ,rabbits and foxes as well for my fast dogs.

if your huntin wild desert cattle they are great but you get in to some large hogs they might not be a good choice heelers dont have any stop or back up to them they will go and go till they drop i bred them for years for cattle but i have never hunted them on purpose fearless is kinda a breed standard now dont get me wrong they are fast smart and tough as nails

I have a half heeler half australin shepherd i have used for years she hunts close but has found many hogs on here own in her younger days and would stop one in a hurry and has caught many hogs and has had to be stappled n stiched up many times. she is getting old now i dont take her much any more she still will apply the brakes on a hog and will catch some but doesnt have the grit she used to. she also doesnt have much for teeth anymore lol has been kicked to many times
by cows. In some of my older posts she is in some of the pictures. i still use her on cows and squeril and coon hunt her on a regular basis...

A really good buddy of mine that passed away earlier this year used a red heeler. He's 40lbs soaking wet and hunts his heart out! He's only been cut twice. Once in the bay pen and once on a hunt. They've been small cuts. He was one of the best strike dogs I've seen in Cali. He would whine like a lil girl all the time though lol. I've hunted with that dog extensively and he would catch a ear every time. I would suggest using a heeler to anyone that was thinking about it! I also know another guy that has a neutered blue heeler that's just getting into hog huntin and he's turning out to be a pretty good dog too. Has lots of drive and will work a hog fairly well. Heelers are very intelligent!

I have a 7/8 heeler 1/8 border collie. it looks like a mini german shep, but I got it on a hog bay sat night. the hounds had bayed that hog for 3 or 4 hours before I could get to them. we hunt some big mountain roadless country. anyhow, they had the dog bayed in a thicket of thorns and I couldn't really get in there to help them. that heeler chewed that big boar right out of there and held him long enough for me to shoot! I have high hopes for him.
