plott on hogs

1 to 3 hrs doesn't mean much without knowing the other conditions. For example, a 1 hr track on dirt with less than 20% soil moisture, with less than 20 % atmospheric humidity, in 100 degree heat, will be harder for a dog to move than a 5 hr track on dirt with a 65 % soil mosture profile, 65 % relative humidity, and 70 degree temp.
Personally, I would expect a medium nosed dog to be able to move a three hour old track in average conditions here, and it is my opinion that you will be happier with a plott than a bluetick, both for catching hogs now and for a future breeding program.
That is not to suggest that blueticks won't work, they will, I have caught a lot of hogs with blueticks, but my experience has been that plotts will catch more, and that plott crossed with catahoula will catch more yet.
Just FYI, I have no dogs, of any breed, for sale, now or in the foreseeable future.
