This weekends Boar

Not bad for a bunch of pups, there wasn't a dog over 8 months old, and they hemed him up pretty good. I was proud of my Brindle dogs.

Here are some pic's of two big sows we caught last week. We killed the belted sow just because she was belted, we're tryin to get rid of the belted hogs, the other sow was just to beat up to let go.

What is your reasoning in eliminating the belted "hamp" genetic?

Mostly because this is one of the ranch's I guide off of, and most of the folk's that pay for a hunt dont want to kill a hamp, and that gene seems to be the domonent gene. I caught a belted sow and brought her home and bred her to a papered San Diego line boar hog, she farrowed 9 shouts and six of'em were belted "Hamp" and I know for a fact that the boar didn't have any hampshire blood in him. But for the most part it's about the guided hunt's and most of the guy's want to pass on'em. I even had one guy last year that passed up a nice boar hog because he was belted, I give one pass on a 4 day hunt, and I cant belive that this guy passed this boar up, he probly went 275-300 and had about 3" of teeth. But these are just the trophy hunters the meat hunters dont care, bt the trophy hunters dont want a belted hog in a 3/4 mount. Thats the only reason. I dont mind'em I think that hamp blood makes'em grow faster and bigger.

Yeah Bill, them pups are makein me proud, now if I can go with out gettin any of them hurt, and slowin'em down. I think by spring I'll have a pretty hard crew of dog's. That little buckskin plott male of mine Timber, well he's the star in my eye right now, he has shown me that he has it all. Nose, gritt, drive, speed and most of all BRAINS. I'm gonna get'em goin on bear this year, I have no worries, there gonna do just fine I think. My hats off to Mr.Gene White and the dogs he has produced.Let's just say I'm so impressed that I just baught 4 more pups from him.

Just curious, what do most of you hog hunters use for dogs? I wish we had hogs here in ID.

Release,
Most hog doggers in general use rough cur type dogs and a pitt for catch dogs.
