I was wondering if anyone uses or has ever seen a cut-collar with spikes? or if using a really heavy leather stiched collar the same width as a normal kevlar cut collar is advisable.

I have tried leather cut collers, in years past. The problem that I had with them was getting them wet or sweaty. They got damn stiff, and eventually broke. Try ratchet straps, the wide ones like are used on big rigs. That is what all my cut collars are made out of.

How many layers do ya use for them ratchet strap collars? and how many buckles or securing devices do ya use?

I use 2 layers, with collars on each side.

One or 2 layers(I like one layer to add flexablity and still plenty cutproof). With 1in strap and double bar buckles on top and bottom.

I also sew 2in Vlecro on inside to hold everything in place while I buckle. The Vlecro keeps the ends from sliding out to the side while the dog is hunting also.

For all the trouble it is worth you could just buy a wet felt collar from Uglydog/WildboarUSA and have a brass nametag with phone number on it.

I use fire hose to make my cut collars, I pull the liner out it's nylon like stuff with rubber inside and use it to make one and the outer shell makes one. I made 12 for around 40$ the hose was free and i use two dog collars on each plus some velcro. Real easy to make and last for a long time. My buddy does leather work and he sowed em up for me and there pretty good collars.I to thought about putting a set of spikes on them hoping it would sway a hog to stop slamming my dogs but i doubt anything would do that as nuts as they get some times
