My brother has a Springer that will hunt shed horns and bring them to you. I thought it was kind of neat. At $6,500 per dog fully trained, check this site out.

Can they garentee the dog wont eat the sheds

This isnt any thing new I have had dogs trying to do this for years! But the horns are still on the deer when the dogs are trying to retrieve them

I got one that I trained just for that purpose. He is a pit mix. Labs seem to be the best but he is really small and is only 40lbs, not built like a pit just the head. Go to www.antlerdogs.com. I bought their dvd, it was pretty good. If you do get one just let him chew on shed horns all the time, also just work on hiding them in the yard and make sure he wants to retrieve whatever you are having him retrieve (in this case horns)

Pretty cool concept. I know a guy in NE who has a pair of labs he uses for whitetail sheds...get a truckload when he goes out...Pretty cool...He has his dogs doing pile work where they will retrieve them to a pile and literally stack sheds for awhihle then he drives to pile and loads 'em up....

My lab found a few fresh sheds for me, and I thought he was really going to be a whiz at it, but then I screwed it up. I got him in on a couple of lion races with the hounds and he plumb forgot about sheds. Today the hounds were grinding on a very old tom track and every so often he would blow thru them huffing and puffing as if to say . Hurry Up! Hurry Up!

I have an old black dog that is pretty good at finding old deer kills and then carrying a leg bone along for a mile or two. Reckon he would be worth anything? LOL!

I have a buddy that trained a Plott to do it. He's a guide in a trophy area and finds some dandy sheds.
