Lewis river anterless tag

Postby huntwithkids » Thu Aug 12, 2010 3:04 am

My daughter drew a Lewis River ansterless deer tag for WA. It is her first year hunting, and I am not real familiar with this unit. At least in terms of deer hunting. I was wondering if you good folks might have a place to suggest. I have hunted elk in this unit up higher, but I don't ever see any deer up high late in the year. Really would like to get her on some game so she has success her first year out.
Thanks

Give me a call I hunt that for elk.. Like you said, I Don't see alot of Deer where I hunt up high, But I think you would do OK hunting some of the Timber land above cougar and the lakes That's where I've seen most of the deer.

Especially for a doe, I think you could do alright.

Ya that is what I was thinking to. I am going to have a week off from work so I think will camp out up around swift somewhere and just sort of hunt around the lake and stuff. Not real high.
thanks I'll call ya later.

I would poke around up the 83 towards the ape caves. I saw 4 does and a buck on sunday in one of the new clear cuts on that road. Also just past the ranger station and before you get to cedar flats there is some good timber company access with lots of clear cuts if your willing to park at a locked gate and do some hiking.
