Re: Squirrel Dogs?
Not sure if anybody has them on here but some of these cat hunters should look into them a bit in my opinion. Not sayin they are the finished product but they posess certain traits that you wont never find in 99% of your hounds.
Re: Squirrel Dogs?
I got some from Mike Croucher in GA a couple yrs ago.. they are good. only have the one left. Tried to find more here in Oregon but none around and to much $ to keep bringing them in.. We dont hunt squirrels just coons and cats.. I did talk to bill barger and mike again just last month but it is just to much when you add in the shipping and to far to drive..
Re: Squirrel Dogs?
I hunt squirrels with a dog. Also coon. She's a Karelian Bear Dog.
Re: Squirrel Dogs?
I squirrel hunt with jagds. They r pretty good at treeing and tracking those little smart asses.
Re: Squirrel Dogs?
I know this is an older thread but yes I have squirrels dogs. I have two curs and a West Siberian Laika and that Laika is becoming a dang good squirrel dog.
Re: Squirrel Dogs?
I tend to agree with Dan. It's been a long time since I did any cat hunting, I live in Ga. Now, but I have begun messing with Mountain cur dogs, and have thought before about at least crossing the ability that my current Kemmer pup has for locate, natural tree, on to some cathound stuff. About 45 lbs, athletic as hell, runs open, head up, as fast as he can, means to catch and stretch. I can only imagine that if a strain of dog does all that, and can consistently locate 2 lb animals 30 feet up, and flattened on the other side of a limb, it couldn't hurt.
