Just got back. Got a red stag with a rifle and 2 chamois with my bow. Almost arrowed a tahr but i will be back nest year to try again. All public land and DIY.

Stag rolled down the mountain like 200 yards after the shot and busted his antlers up real bad as you can see

We did do alot of reserch but we actualy met up with a local bowhunter there that helped with areas to hunt. And also drive since they are bass ackwards over there in relation to driving. lol

Congratulations , you were in the South Island and looks like you did well
Now you've made contact with local hunters , the place will open up to you
Go north in mid april and chase Sika deer , they're slippery little suckers that will provide a good challenge in the bush
