i have gleaned information from every possible source. i have also spoken to an unofficial super killer of canines. i called in 2 of the giants yesterday and was fortunate enough for one to die. thanks for all the input on this board, especially Mr. Sinclair. there will be more to come.

Congrats, how long did it take to call them in, did you howl or predator call, how about some details. How big was this dog, did you weigh it.

the one shot at 40 yards weighed real close to 100lbs, nice gray color. the other did not come out of the brush. we were within 1 mile, i feel is the ticket. did not howl until later, and then educated myself and the rest of the pack with vocals.
we set up on a timbered slope across from them on their very used trail. they use the same trails and steps quite regularly. elk calf called for aboout 10 seconds. then wait 15 minutes. call 8-15 seconds again. wait 15 minutes call again. yyou can use elk ar rabbit squall, they both work. a squeker helps them get comfortable within the close range.
patience is key. wear warm clothes. it took these 2, 30 minutes to come in. have had another that took over an 1 hr.
if you treat them like a smart educated coyote they WILL come in.
when they do come in, they come in very cunningly. be ready, and carry a pistol for close and dirty work.
sorry no pics. it is a pain for me to post pics, let alone to get them off the camera.

Thanks for the info. When you say you get with in a mile before you call are you finding them with a howler or you just have an idea of where the wolves are bedding?
