Dog wont hunt

I have a 4 year old male dog that wont hunt. He showed up at my pens a while back and never left so I decided to keep him. When I attempted to hunt him he just sat there. Any ideas as to why he won't even attempt to pick up a trail

Sorry to say but sounds like someone had a cull they wanted to get rid of,so they dumped him near your place.All hounds don't make good hunting dogs.
