2008 maine whitetail

it was a tough season up here in maine for hunting whitetails. last winter did a number on the population around here but i was still lucky enough to take a great deer about half way through the season. the rut kicked in real hard. sat down for about a half hour in the afternoon and decided to use that bleat can i got. i hit that about 4 or 5 times and i heard him coming. i hit it several more times while he was coming at me. he came right to me at about 25 yards and stopped. i didnt have the best shot but i think he saw me cuz he froze right up. i shot and well he stood there looking at me. shit, so i threw another one in the chamber and put the cross hairs on him and fired a second time. nothing. he still stood there looking at me. another one in the chamber and bang. 3rd times a charm i guess cuz he dropped in his tracks. as i was walking to him i was looking for my first two rounds. sure enough i was just clearing brush for that 3rd round to find the mark. then the fun began. memorable for me thats for sure. 8 pointer 193 pounds dressed out.
