i got a few questions
hey everyone. i got some question about huntinh hounds off of a horse/mule. alright well its probally gonna get pretty expensive for me to be driving my truck around hunting next coon season, and this bear season. so do you all think that it is cheeper to hunt off a horse/mule or about the same or more exspensive. here is another one, what is a good state to hunt off horse/mule. because i am gonna be graduating in a year, and would consider moving to a better state. also about how much does it cost to keep a horse/mule a month. final question everyone do any of you guys run bear while hunting of a horse/mule. or is it pretty much coon, and lion, or fox. and what not. thank you everyone for the help

Re: i got a few questions
I hunt off of mules 99% of the time. I think it makes better hounds not to mention better mules too. I am sure that you can find good horse/mule hunting in about any state you wish. As far a bear hunting goes, I think that rigg'in probably produces more game but I personally like to just ride canyons. Horses and mules can be a bit pricey to keep around. A lot of it depends on the hay prices in your area and if you dont have a place of your own to keep them, you will also be paying for boarding. hay in my area is around 5 bucks a bale for an 80 lb bale. At 1/3 to 1/2 bale a day you can do the math. I generally feed a little grain of some sort also when I am using them hard.
Anyhow, hope this helps a little.

Re: i got a few questions
alfalfa is $10.00 bale here. $12.50 at the feed stores. however it is $3.60 a gallon for gas. and plain obscene for diesel. riding ain't a bad idea if you could plan ahead.
