Hoof

I got a horse that has torn half his frog of his rear hoof.So and advice on how to doctor this would be greatly appreciated.Like do I need to confine him to a stall till it grows back to keep dirt and mud out of it.He is walking on it but he gives to that foot never had one do this so I dont really know where to start yhe doctoring process and how.

I sort of got to have a picture to know what your getting at in a more absolute way but mostly it is probably not really a big deal......a horse will shed it's overgrown frog a couple times a year . If it is a big worry I would shoe the horse with a pad and pack the foot under the pad with medicated hood packing and probably he would be going good in a couple days.

Was there heavy bleeding involved? That tells you whether its serious. A puncture a cut etc. If it was a natural sloughing process he is fine. However if its damage to living tissue you need to keep it clean and sterile as possible. If its real bad get a vet out for a exam.
