Here's is how out of place a bare ground hunter can look in a snowdrift. LOL!
This is little Shadow he doesn't mind if it is dry or snowing he will get you there and back. I raised this sorrel gelding out of my old Grandaughter of Sugar Bars and my neighbor's old Doc's Lauro stud who is a direct son of Dry Doc. He really can get around and it's really hard to find the bottom in him.We had more dang snow in our area this year than I can ever remember, and some would say why are you hauling horses and riding when lion hunting you can cover more country driving roads and cutting for tracks in the snow. That is true at times but when i am off in some canyon evenin the snow i generally don't have to put up with a crowd. LOL!
Now you see why I like spring hunting. LOL!

First photo this year second photo a few years ago yes I still have the high tan dogs although that one was killed by a lion. They were not block headed they were pretty long eared and really fast dogs. That dog is Big Nosed Kate she had a wonderful reputation as a dry ground dog and caught numerous lions in this area as well as the Gila, Burros, Saliz, and Utah. She was out of Jeff allens old Walker dogs Ace and Stan Meachams old Black Female. I still have a half brother to her out of the same mother but Jeff's Hank dog who was a son of Ace. His name is Jiggs and he is a good lion dog as well.
Notice first photo in snow that brown dog is my secret weapon. That is a Tazmanian/French MousseX Bavarian Mountain Cur cross. It is a very rare breed.LOL!

tsprink, Good to see the family and especially the kids getting envolved. That makes for great times.
Mike, nice lookin ponies. We are in the same boat here lately. Started a lion low in the valley in the dirt and ended up catchin him up the canyon at the bottom of a north facing slope. We only had to walk about 50 yards in the snow but this fat kid was punchin holes so deep i couldn't walk.......had to crawl and spread out the weight while my kids were laughing at me and walking on top. I'm just glad i can keep them entertained. Keep em commin, i know you have more pics then that.......
Rico, whoooo you got your hands full there. Great pic!
Machias, never owned a mule but Frosty has a 3 year old were gonna get some entertainment out of this year. Good lookin ride.

Re: Ponies.....please post your pics.
These pictures are really given me some cabin fever. All very nice horses. I've been huntin on foot lately because I just don't trust these broncs after being turned out all winter!lol Mike I was joking about the block headed black dog like I said my best dog looks just like him he came out of some dry ground hounds on the utah colorado border but all the hunters here who favor blueticks and plotts say he looks big ugly and slow. I just let them keep thinkin that. One of these days I am going to need to have a talk with you or go on a hunt with you cause I'm just getting started in this game and I got more questions than my poor fingers can type!
