Re: <<Need Help picking a saddle>>
Just get a good old leather saddle on a wooden tree. You'll see why when you are giving that saddle to your kids or grandkids 20 years from now and they get another 10 years out of it before finally selling it for beer money in college to someone who will get even more life out of it. I've broke more flex trees than wooden trees and leather will outlast cordura by a long shot

Also the horse will hardly tell the difference in weight. It's like adding a few water bottles to your backpack. the difference is not significant on a horse

Re: <<Need Help picking a saddle>>
i prefer a slick for saddle it wont let you ride on your pockets pushes you forwards ,high backed saddle makes it nice when going up grades on horse back ..i would say find out where your local livestock /horse auction is and take some cash along ive seen sadles go from 50 bucks to 1,500 bucks all kinds of saddles but the slick forks will typicaly range from 250 bucks up to a hand made tree and saddle 4,500 bucks custom built to fit you . hope you find the saddle you like out there.check ebay too

This will give you some history on the Wade Tree.
Although the only Wade I have is a custom built,I talked to an Outfitter last week that had bought 6 WADEs from Corriente Saddles, and he is very pleased with them. For the low price he paid the quality looked very good and he said they fit most of his horses very well. Might be worth looking into.

Sorry Daniel I met DirtyDan..lol.. good luck picking one.. I have a couple of corriente roping saddles that I won.. there not bad but I don't ride any of them.. I've never had a Wade my father sold several of them that James made I would of liked to of had one.. Give James a call and tell him a red headed guy that has a bunch hounds told you to give him a call..

Re: <<Need Help picking a saddle>>
If you are looking for a good cusom wade saddle with pretty quick turnaround time, check out www.ranchsaddle.com out of Texas. I bought a wade saddle from them and it has held up very well and their prices are reasonable. They will work with you to tweak out the changes you want from their standard wade to customize it to your style. this is a pic of the one I got from them. I have been really happy with it.

Re: <<Need Help picking a saddle>>
Von, unfortunately I've still yet to meet James face to face. I've talked saddles with him a few times via phone and can't wait to get one ordered from him. I rode two of his saddles a roper and an association and was sold. I looked him up right away. If i keep this little filly I have I am going to have him cast her a custom pad also. She is a round little booger. I am somewhat familiar with his past with Harlan Webb saddlemaker but also remember maybe reading a bit about him and Corriente. All I remember is it had something to do with the tree and I'm pretty sure he continues to use the same trees as they do. Fill me in on the rest as I am very interested to know.

Re: <<Need Help picking a saddle>>
For some reason I thought they were made in Anthony New Mexico, I have two corriente saddles. They are good saddles they are built off the semi assoc. tree one is a custom half breed and the other is a rough out bought off the shelf. All in all they are great saddles for the money. I will keep buying fromn them there service is great and the craftmanship is right up there. There website is corrientesaddleco.com
