Kids and horses

My rule of thumb is the kids age and horses age should = 20 or my other favorite saying is.. green horse and green rider = black and blue!!
Go to an outfitter or guest ranch at the end of the year and see of they have any older mountain broke stock!! Sometimes a horse is good but just not working out in the herd

Thanks for the replies. The kids horse as "at least 13". He was told it's age when they got it but he thought it may be even older. That makes the math add to 20 so hopefully she'll work for us. I think I may hold up on the free companion since he is an uncut male. I don't think that's something I want to deal with.
