Well I read a few posts on how you guys loved your whites boots, so I called my boot guy who is a dealer for Whites. He told me only 15% of people need to be measured and everyone else just needed a standard boot, and that the Hathorn was the same quality. So I had him send me a pair. They say Buffalo Boot Co. on them, so I called Whites and they said they were their boot but just an old stock (same thing). Anyway they HURT like a mother goose! My boot guy told me to keep them for a week and wear them only in the house. At first they were only hurting my ankles, I know that they will break in because they are leather it will just take awhile, still that part hurts lol... Then the arch is really high and I am flat footed. I asked the lady and she said they are that way on purpose...Really!!! She said in 2 weeks I will break my foot to the boot as far as the arch goes, and they built them all the same. and the only other thing is the toes are pointed, they arnt roach killers but they are like the old 80 s style point, I am not really a fan, and my wife is making fun of me lol. Anyway is all this normal????

My wife makes fun of me also, so I guess that part is normal !

I have always had a pair of white boots for riding. I like the packer style with the squared off toe. They last forever, got my first pair in 1989 had them rebuilt twice. I picked up my second pair in 2005. I was measured for both pairs. They felt a little uncomfortable for a few days but fit like a glove after that.

Soak your boots in warm water for 20 minutes in the morning, and then wear them until there dry (that will take most of the day). That is the best and fastest way to break them in.

I use to wear cowboy boots, I would take a 1/2 dixie cup of hot watrer and pour in each boot wear them to they were dry, throw the socks away and they were molded to your feet, God help you if you pulled them off before they dried.

Oh that is funny.And I am not laughing at you but with you. I remember the break in on the whites. And to be honest, it was murder. I am glad they last so long because I don't know if I could break in a pair every year. I have had mine going on 3 years now.
Good luck with them. Get past the break in and you will swear by them.

ya wites take along time to break in but if you get hathorns they will be woar out a year

Trey, I've always wanted a pair of Whites, just haven't done it yet. As for the wife, mine capitalizes every chance she gets also. Just keeps me on my toes!!!

I've worn whites' smokejumpers my entire adult life, every day almost. They last 2-3 years before they need rebuilt, and usually can be rebuilt once for me. I ride horses in them, hunt, and everything in them. Best boot period as far as toughness goes, in my opinion. They aren't much good when the temperature drops very much though. Then I switch to my whites pacs. I have naturally high arches so that part is comfortable to me, and I have custom measured and built boots 12" high mailed direct to me from the Spokane factory.

I have several friends that are smokejumpers that also wear them daily year round. They love 'em too.
