I live in Western Wa. As of now the only way to legally hunt cougar is to put in for a drawing for limited tags in the fall of the year. The game dept has set quotas for certain Eastern Wa counties to receive an allotment of "damage control" cat hunts. These tags are for only a few counties in NE Eastern Wa (Ferry, Okanagon, Stevens, Pend Orielle, etc.). To participate in the drawing the dept says you must have your own pack . This program was only supposed to last three years and I believe this year was the third but I just read an announcement today that Eastern Wa legislators are campaigning to have this hunt on a permanent basis and even have some counties in Western Wa participate. I-655 really hosed us. They should re-name the state "Seattle" because that is where all the laws in this state are made...if it sounds like I am a bitter houndsmen its because I am. Anyway good luck with the search for some dogs...there are some good people on the site.

I am 20 years old and very interested in hounds and trailing some cougars. I would like to try and go on some hunts and eventually get my own pack of hounds.
